We will go to Bible camp.

Go to Bible camp.

Go go go go go to Bible camp.

We will stomp and we will stamp

on the way to bible camp.

We can’t wait to go to Bible camp.

We will dance and we will sing.

Like angels we’ll take wing.

When we go to holy Bible camp.

Holy Bible camp, holy Bible camp.

Hooooooooooly Bible camp.

The Most American things

What things are the most all-American, the most star-spangled, the most red white and blue?

1. Hot dogs and hamburgers

Millions of Americans grill hot dogs and hamburgers. It’s the national meal.

2. 1927 Yankees

The greatest team in the quintessential American sport: Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.

3. Jazz

Maybe the most important native art form.

4. Washington Crossing the Delaware

On his way to one of his greatest victories at the Battle of Trenton.

Look at that determination!

5. A Place in the Sun

A very American story about success.

6. Cars

What’s more American than the open road?

7. John Philip Sousa

The USAF band playing The Stars and Stripes Forever on July 4th with fireworks

8. Apollo missions

America’s greatest achievement?

9. Disney‘s Snow White

Less dark than the original

10. Christmas

The holiday of abundance

11. The Wizard of Oz

Begins in the middle American prairie but gets increasingly bizarre.

12. Beer

And what to serve with those hot dogs and hamburger?

13. Arnold Schwarzenegger and steroids

14. Skyscrapers

The classic soaring American skyscraper: the glass box

Just kidding. They’re actually German (mostly). Two unpleasant events in the last century caused us to lose sight of our German heritage. More Americans have German ethnicity than any other.

1. Hot dogs (frankfurters) from Frankfurt (with sauerkraut?) and hamburgers from Hamburg (with Heinz ketchup?) 2. The “Sultan of Swat“ and the Iron Horse were both of German ancestry.

Where pseudo-sciences crawl off to die

Where do obsolete, German-born, mysterious pseudo-sciences crawl off to die?

Hollywood.

The fetid swamp of unholy Hollywood.

Deeply incoherent, resistant to facts, championed by eccentric Americans, promoted by cynics, these pseudo-sciences coalesce around, gravitate toward pseudo-intellectuals who prance and posture within the pseudo-reality of filmworld.

Hollywood is especially enamored of fog-shrouded nights and heavily-accented mad scientists, rampant and ridiculous.

I’ll give you four examples:

1) vitalism

Frankenstein

alchemy

2) psychoanalysis

Expressionism

3) Hollow earth

4) Marxism

Marxism, the brain-child of Karl Marx and, to a lesser extent, Friedrich Engels, can be described as profoundly nonsensical.

Russell

A meaningless godless universe somehow inevitably progresses to a worker’s paradise?

And yet Marxism was attractive to many in Hollywood.

Stalin

Not a few Hollywood stars road emerged in their fur-lined, bejeweled limousines to Communist gatherings. Marxist harangues elected enthusiastic applause. with the greatest enthusiasm. Reed ten

5) hysterical environmentalism

Some elements of the green movement can be classified as a pseudo-science

Why this desperate flight from reality?

Few people can endure materialism (aka reductionism) - the bleakness and emptiness of life as presented to us by actual science.

Fill in the picture

I know many of us are busy with our daily routine, but let’s think big. Let’s consider not just countries or Earth but the whole Milky Way Galaxy. Let’s consider not just decades or centuries but millennia.

will we may falter?

Our robot, AI, computer, rocket, astronomy research may be the most important event in the history of our galaxy, may be the best hope for our galaxy. This chance may never come again.

Imagine if you will billions of robots reproducing, making music, mining, building, exploring the galaxy, adapting to strange new planets. Instead of Renaissance men, we’ll have Renaissance robots. Imagine further robots seeding suitable planets with organisms from earth: bacteria, grasses, termites, mushrooms, sagebrush, diatoms, lichens, worms. Imagine their wild proliferation in barren environments.

When our machines reach the nearest red dwarf stars, they will in a moment transform and become practically immortal. These stars last trillions of years, 1000 times as long as our sun. The machines will then continue and journey to the center of the galaxy.

A technologically advanced civilization and a complex biosphere - neither may exist anywhere else in our galaxy. We should be very careful in the coming decades not to destroy the biosphere or ourselves (since we are still needed to build and sustain and improve the robots). We must advance technology while limiting the destruction caused by technology: no nuclear warring and no wrecking the environment.

After we create intelligent, self-designing, self-assembling robots we should step down into the darkness and let robots and nature share the stage. After all our record as a species is not so great.

We could use the rest after so many tiring activities.

Isn’t a robotocentric arrangement better than an anthropocentric arrangement? A Robozoic Era preferable to an Anthropocene Epoch? Why not try something completely different?

We can choose between two futures. 1) A human future which may include: mass extinctions, mass murder, biological warfare, overpopulation, starvation, and a permanent dark ages only occasionally illuminated & enlightened by detonation of the remaining nuclear weapons 2) A robot/nature future: borders of knowledge and physical borders ever-expanding, grasses waving in the wind on distant plains, microorganisms swimming in distant seas.

It is time to ingratiate ourselves with our future Robot Overlords.

It is time to cultivate anthropic pessimism but galactic optimism.

To reiterate: It is of the utmost importance that we develop AI and reproducing independent robots and that we avoid WW III. A general war would destroy civilization and there is no guarantee we would ever recover. Intelligence is rare and not always adaptive. I hope for a Manhattan Project to build space-faring robots and I hope Zelensky and Putin will negotiate. Imagine the galaxy’s future imperiled, the galaxy’s best hope crashed because of a quarrel over the Donbas!

One more thing: humanists though sometimes quite nice are the most dangerous individuals on the planet because they don’t accept how depraved & deplorable is man.

My task is merely to point out that the rise of the machines and the demise of mankind are not so terrible. It’s not the end of the world.

Maybe in the far future our descendants, the humble remnant of mankind, will walk, via virtual reality, amongst the seedlings on a planet of Proxima Centauri, and learn how the earth plants are adapting. We’ll keep going, maybe journey (virtually) all the way to the edge of the galaxy and beyond. Despite our smallness (morally, intellectually, height, lifespan) we can encompass the galaxy. We, a ridiculous bunch of apes clinging to an obscure planet hurtling around an average star, will be satisfied knowing we launched the whole enterprise.
